Hey Everyone,

I’m glad you decided to stumble upon this page, but that also means that I have to write something decent on it … so thanks a lot!! :|

I’m Nikhil and as of right now, I’m 21 years, 3 months and 12 days old. I’m a student at the College of Fine Arts at Sydney and will be done with my Masters in Digital Media in about 5 months time. Before I came to Australia last July, I was in India. I was born there, raised there and lived twenty and a half glorious years there with hopefully many more to come.

// the next bit is life history and all that… so turn back now if you must. don’t say I didn’t warn you

I was born in Coimbatore in 1989. My sister, then 4 years old, decided to name me Nikhil. So my mom and dad agreed to call me Nikhil, and they took me to Madras to start living my little life. I spent my entire childhood in Madras, India. No complaints there. I went to a play school right opposite my house, which I refused to walk to, and then to Bhavans Rajaji Vidyashram in Kilpauk. I also played a little tennis back in the day. Life was going on just as a normal school kid’s life would, with my two friends and I playing video games all the time, trying to prove ourselves by getting in fights with others and the like. Around when I was 13, there were a lot of changes in my life. I moved from Bhavans to Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao school in Chetpet. It was also around that time that we moved out of the house I had been brought up in, to a new place near my new school. I also quit playing tennis around that time and started up with football at school. But I managed through all the changes and got through the next 4 years of my life. I did okay at school, not a genius student but I wasn’t too bad either. I wasn’t that great at sports and didn’t exactly have a ball of a time making friends (I wasn’t the type to mingle freely).

Then, after school, all the college applications and admissions started. I managed to get into Loyola College, also at Chennai, to do my bachelors degree in computer science. In my opinion, it was these three years that made me who I am today, not just because of the college.. it was waay more than that. It was the people I met, the things I did, the things I had to do, and all the experiences of these three years that made me, well… let’s just say that I grew a helluva lot more random during these three years. It was by far the best years of my life. I met both my best friends during these years, and made some other pretty awesome ones too. I learnt how to deal with people, both nice ones and annoying ones, and I came out of college extremely satisfied. Sure, it didn’t exactly provide me with the best education in the world, but it gave me pretty much everything else that I needed to survive. After those three awesome years, I began applying to do something further, and three years of computer science made me realize that a career in it wasn’t for me. So I took to studying something that I never grew out of… cartoons. I knew deep down that I always wanted to make cartoons and this was my chance. I applied to a few places in Australia and to my delight, ended up geting accepted into all of them. But I had to choose, and I chose the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales.

I packed my bags and left India on 7th July 2009 and made my way to Australia. It was the first time out of the country alone for me, and what a trip it was. I got here and went to school and pretty much fell in love with it. It’s a great place to study and that’s what I’m doing. For once in my life, I’m studying. Now, one year (with a 4 month vacation) later, here I am, getting ready for my final semester at COFA.
